 What is Balanced Diet ?

In order to obtain  adequate amounts of each of the different nutritions the daily diet should include appropriate quantities of a variety of different foodstuffs a diet in these various food stuff are mixed in suitable preposition to carry out adequately

A list of food item as a General guide it would be practical and easy to follow it also provides information as to which of the different food steps can be substituted for one that may be temporary and available eating habits have changed with the time the changes are faster now the human diet is of is not restricted to any special category of food whereas most animals stick to a routine menu man can and does not eat a variety of foods of both plant and animal origin where it is for him the spice of life more so in force that in anything else this natural desire for variety is justified by the fact that no single food provides us with the nutrition that we need serious like rice or wheat which form the stable food of mankind supply as only with a fraction of our nutritional requirements we have to supplement serials with other foods that provide plenty of fats and proteins and minor quantity of a number of vitamins and minerals this means that the large our diet become evident if we analyse what nutrition of our food contain and in what proportion then nutrition food in foodstuffs May broadly classified as as

  • Carbohydrates
  • Fats
  • Proteins
  • Minerals
  • Vitamins
  • Water.
Proteins, fats and carbohydrates are called Macro Nutrients.

Proteins

Proteins ( from the Greek word proteios meaning first) are the most versatile element in the body they are chief substance of the cell of the body . They form important constituents of muscles and other tissues and Vital  fluids looks like blood.

Enzymes which results in the digestion of food and antibodies which are the body defences against infection are also many protein in nature the nutritive value of protein depends on the essential amino and acid composition amino acid are the bricks which tissue with with which tissue protein is built and replace they are some 20 amino acid commonly found in dietary protein of these 10 amino acid can be synthesized by the body itself even whether by mutual conversion among amino acid or from non protein sources but 10 amino acid cannot be so synthesized and have to be supplied through diet these are called essential amino acids are does require it essential amino acid which children and require 9 or 10.

Fat

Fat, like proteins is a necessary ingredients in the diet and is of value of the body is in a number of ways it is concentrated source of energy and supplies for Unit Weight more than double the energy furnished by either protein or carbohydrate some fats specially vegetable oil provide what are called essential fatty acid, linoleic and arachidonic acids, to the body.

Fats that circulate in the blood are of many types- triglycerides, phospholipids, etc. The quantity and quality of fat consumed after the level of cholesterol in the blood some fat like groundnut Oil,sesame oil or Sunflower oil which contain a high proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids do not increase blood cholesterol levels greatly others like butter, ghee and hydrogenated vegetable oil contain a high  proportions of saturated fatty acid and greatly increase cholesterol level, it is also found that consumption of smaller amount of fat at different time causes less increase of cholesterol than a large amount of fat taken at a time.

Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates include every kind of starch and sugar. Grainfoods are largely composed of starch and food stuff like Cane sugar and glucose are pure carbohydrates they form the main source of energy for the body being a chief source of energy carbohydrate form the bulk of Indian diet a balanced diet simply means a diet that will supply all the nutrition necessary for the growth and development of the body in India a balanced diet has become an imperative since most Indian consume food that provide more carbohydrates and fats than proteins.

Vitamins and Minerals

Vitamins and minerals comprise micro nutrients as distinguished from proteins, fats and carbohydrates- called macro nutrients. Vitamins can be broadly divided into fat- soluble and water-soluble vitamins. Vitamin A, D, E and K are fat-soluble vitamins. Vitamin C and B are water-soluble.

The vitamins are necessary auxiliaries in metabolism. They combine with specific proteins, as parts of the various oxidation enzyme systems which are concerned with the breakdown of carbohydrates, proteins and fat in the body. Thus, they are intimately involved in the mechanism which release energy, carbon dioxide and water as the end products of metabolism.
